A finely made late Victorian artist’s easel, constructed in walnut and designed in the Gothic Revival style.
The tall A-frame has an architectural crest formed with pointed finials, arched cut-outs and a central turned spindle. Further rows of turned spindles enrich the upper and lower sections, giving the easel a distinctive ecclesiastical influence.
The adjustable horizontal ledge supports a painting, framed artwork or display board. A hinged rear support allows the easel’s angle to be altered, while a retaining chain keeps the frame securely positioned.
