Description

very unusual and highly decorative Edwardian barograph by Hezzanith, presented in an elegant glazed oak case with striking Art Nouveau influenced inlaid decoration to the uprights and drawer front. Retaining its original bevelled glass panels and removable top cover, the instrument displays an exceptionally intricate brass and steel mechanism, making it both a scientific instrument and an attractive display piece.
The barograph features an eight-stack vacuum chamber movement operating a recording arm over the revolving chart drum, still retaining its original style chart paper beneath a brass lid. To the front is an engraved glass weather dial marked from “Rain” through to “Very Dry,” alongside an integrated thermometer scale, all mounted upon a polished brass platform stamped “Hezzanith.” The visible workings give the piece tremendous visual interest and showcase the precision engineering associated with quality Edwardian scientific instruments.
The warm oak case is finely constructed with stepped mouldings and stands upon shaped bracket feet, with a useful drawer below for storage of charts and accessories.
