A good quality Georgian-style mahogany bookcase, dating from the early 20th century. Of pleasing narrow proportions, the bookcase is constructed in solid mahogany and stands on shaped bracket feet beneath a useful enclosed cupboard base.
The upper section features three open shelves framed by shaped sides and surmounted by an attractive swan-necked gallery, inspired by 18th-century designs. The shelves provide ample space for books, ceramics or decorative objects, whilst the rich mahogany timber displays a warm colour and attractive figuring throughout.
The lower section is fitted with a pair of panelled cupboard doors retaining a simple brass knob handle and opening to reveal useful concealed storage.
