A fine quality Edwardian mahogany breakfront open bookcase dating from the early 20th century, circa 1910. Constructed in beautifully figured mahogany, the bookcase displays a rich warm colour throughout with particularly attractive grain patterns visible to the uprights and sides.
The moulded top sits above a crisply carved frieze decorated with reeded detailing and oval paterae, a design inspired by the elegance of the Georgian period. The breakfront form provides excellent proportions, with a wider central section flanked by two recessed outer bookcases, creating a refined and balanced appearance.
Offering generous storage and display space, the bookcase is fitted with nine adjustable shelves arranged across three sections. The shelves can be repositioned to accommodate books of varying sizes, decorative objects, collections, or display pieces. The interior has been finished in a contrasting dark tone which beautifully accentuates the warmth of the mahogany and provides an attractive backdrop for display.Raised on a shaped plinth base with bracket feet.
