A very elegant mid-19th century walnut framed salon chair in the Louis XV taste, raised on finely carved cabriole legs terminating on original porcelain castors. The shaped serpentine seat rail is decorated with delicate floral carvings, whilst the oval upholstered back is framed within a beautifully moulded walnut surround surmounted by a carved crest.
The flowing open arms are particularly attractive, displaying graceful scroll work and superb quality craftsmanship throughout. The chair retains a lovely rich walnut colour and patina, complementing the later upholstered striped fabric in soft blush and cream tones which suits the piece beautifully.
