A fine quality pair of Edwardian mahogany side chairs of elegant shield back form, beautifully decorated throughout with satinwood and boxwood inlaid detailing. The shaped backs feature finely executed marquetry panels depicting scrolling foliate ornament, urns and stylised birds, framed within delicate line inlays.
The serpentine front seat rails are further decorated with restrained inlaid motifs and stand on elegant tapering legs with additional marquetry embellishment to the front supports. Gracefully proportioned throughout, the chairs display the refined decorative taste associated with the Edwardian period.
The seats have been traditionally overstuffed and newly upholstered in a neutral woven fabric with decorative braid edging, giving the chairs a comfortable and luxurious feel while complementing the rich colour and figuring of the mahogany.
