A fine quality Regency Revival mahogany open bookcase of elegant architectural form, retaining a rich figured mahogany grain and beautifully finished patina throughout. The breakfront top sits above three open shelving sections divided by fluted pilasters, each mounted with finely cast gilt brass classical female bust capitals in the manner of Caryatid figures, giving the piece a strong neoclassical influence.
The central frieze is adorned with an attractive gilt brass mount featuring a classical mask within a scrolling lozenge shaped cartouche, while the outer sections retain matching decorative ormolu mounts. The bookcase stands on a substantial plinth base with further gilt brass caps to the lower pilasters, adding balance and refinement to the overall design.
The interior is fitted throughout with fully adjustable shelves, allowing for versatile storage and display.
