Description

A late 19th century oak revolving bookcase by Trubner & Co., London, retaining the original maker’s label to the central column reading “American Patent Revolving Bookcase, Manufactured by Trubner & Co., Ludgate Hill, London.”
Constructed in solid oak with a rich, warm patina and well-defined grain, the bookcase is of classic square, tiered form centred on a substantial upright support. Each of the four sides is fitted with three open shelves, providing practical and accessible storage across multiple levels, ideal for books of varying sizes.
The sides are enclosed by vertical slatted galleries with applied roundel details, lending a restrained decorative quality while ensuring books are held securely in place. The moulded top with a slight overhang completes the composition, and the whole is raised on a robust cruciform base fitted with original castors.
